Given that the Final Four (NCAA basketball championships, for those of you not in the know) is ending tonight, you’d think I’d have something better to talk about than this again.
It’s been a week and Mr. Haggart’s been hard at work sifting through the entries he received for his promotion. As of this writing, he’s culled 556, which is about 20% — assuming everyone in the pool submitted two images — of the total number of images entered.
The pictures he’s chosen range from photos that are more than likely on film (it’s hard to know on the web these days) to ones that are clearly digital and have all the markings of Photoshoppery. There are portraits and landscapes, famous people and everyday folk. It’s an interesting mix.
I’m curious to see a couple of things:
(1) What, if anything comes of the juried-ness of these images? Flickr’s usually rife with everything and this will be a selection of stuff that’s a cut above. Will it matter to anyone?
(2) What kind of fallout will there be in the comments section of the post he writes about this?
Time will tell, I suppose.
EDIT: Yup. Barbs are flyin’ over there.
