These are really just test shots but they’re funny.
He’s rarely mad and always smiles.
I had the pleasure of shooting with Joe over at Brainchild Collective to create some new headshots for some of the gang over at Hodges Partnership, a local public relations firm.
Headshots are about making people look their best but occasionally, if you snap enough, you can catch people looking like themselves.
I should say that before I decided to post these, I asked Duncan Phillips and Tony Scida (pronounced “sky-day” according to his twitter handle) if they minded these candid looks. They consented and even smiled about the images themselves.
We had a great time and I think we had some pics that’ll look good on their website.
Duncan Phillips takes a moment to wax poetic.
Tony Scida, a Nikon user, openly scoffs at my use of Canon equipment.
Thanks, guys, for letting me show off some of the funny outtakes!
I should say that I don’t often shoot weddings.
Honestly, I’m as nervous as the brides and grooms are up to the day the event happens and I’m always afraid I’ll start watching the ceremony instead of documenting it. I never do, but it’s one of the things I worry about.
I put that fear aside a little while ago and shot a wedding with Joe’s help. We got some AMAZING results. Since it was a Brainchild Collective project, Joe’s doing post on the images, but this one is surely one of the best.
I’ll pop a few more up when I get them.
For what it’s worth, the ceremony was here, and this was the post about their engagement pictures.
We were shooting for a client who sells rugs.
Lots of ’em.
Joe got creative while we were testing the light.
From a model shoot for a young lady who’s leaving the city soon. She wanted some fashion stuff to update her portfolio.
The amazing post process work is due to Joe over at Brainchild Collective. I told him that the image I’d shot wasn’t that good all by itself and he smiled and said, “Hence, the Collective part.”
Have a good weekend!
I’m working on a group of stuff and since it was a weekend that started with Polaroids, I snapped a few at this shoot too.
Craig (of Groundswell Concepts) was agreeable enough to pose in what can only be a kinda silly situation, but comes off looking pretty cool. Joe (of Brainchild Collective) was good enough to hang out and assist.
I’m a little concerned about how the sun (which was blaring behind him) might overpower the actual film photos when I get them back, but the Polaroids have turned out reasonably well.

EDIT: A preliminary film scan here
Meredith and Lane needed some engagement photos.
I shot a few rolls of film and some digital images but those are coming from Joe over at Brainchild Collective later this week.
I grabbed a few Polaroids.
