I Used to be This Big.

scotty-1977001

I’m working on some other new things to share soon, so here’s something from the archives.
What’s funny is that I don’t really remember this time in my life. What’s weird is that, to my eye, I look a whole lot like this.

A Short Treatise On Being Away For A Long Time.

Off Into the Middle Distance

School’s winding down and I’m absolutely mired in end-of-the-year stuff. There will be photographs soon. I just scored the use of a darkroom to process some black and white film.

In other news, I found this place (among others) ’cause I think it’ll make a nice location to shoot and I’ve got a few people lined up. It’s gonna be a great summer.

You’ll see. Gimme some time and this blog’ll be full of new newness. Honest.

A Little Flare.

My jury’s out on this image. I’m experimenting with how to make the digital camera “think” the way that a film camera might. Specifically, I’m trying to get some working lens flare to work out.

Feel free to weigh in.

Meow.

These are the top 25 blogs. I’m not sure how they’re calculated but what I thought was interesting was that this one was included in this secondary list. I kinda always thought this image might work for that site. *Shrug.*

Imagine.

I have a lot of film to scan and not a lot of time.
I found this image while I was updating the family blog with pictures of my son. This kinda shows how unstoppable my daughter is. I hope she stays that way — at least until she brings home some doofy ruffian of whom I don’t approve (grin).

The Inconvenience of Being Born.

This is a title shamelessly lifted from this amazing Amy Arbus book. Once you’ve had a look through and can compare it to people you’ve observed at the moments they come into the cold world of air and light, can you truly appreciate.

This is my son, Thomas Henry Scott, IV. Trust me when I tell you that he’s named for his grandfather. Certainly there will be other images of him to grace the web, but these are the beginning. Happy Birthday, Henry.

EDIT: Almost forgot the numbers – 8 pounds, 6 ounces and 20.5 inches at 10:51 am, January 30th, 2009.

And this is the french fry heat lamp they put him under right after he got here. It should be noted that his sister was considerably angrier when this all happened to her and despite that, we’ve kept her.
